Editing your live site in five steps.
This is the quick start for Kiln Cloud. You prep your repo with one command, install the Kiln app, start your 7-day free trial, and edit your live site on the page. The whole thing takes a few minutes.
1Put your site on GitHub
Your site needs to be a GitHub repository, plain HTML, CSS, and JS. If your AI built it, push it to a repo. Connect that repo to a host that auto-deploys on each commit if you haven't already (Cloudflare Pages recommended, free and fine for commercial use). That auto-deploy is Kiln's publish button.
2Run one command to make it editable
In your project, run:
npx github:kilncms/kiln
It automatically tags your pages for on-page editing and adds the Kiln scripts and config. Then commit and push the changes. (Want to adjust what's editable? You can tweak the config yourself afterward.)
3Install the Kiln GitHub App
Install the app on that repo: github.com/apps/kiln-cms. Choose Only select repositories and pick your site's repo. That's the only button you press, and the app can only ever touch the repo you select.
4Sign in and add your site
Sign in at app.kilncms.com, add your site (your repo plus your live URL), and start your 7-day free trial. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record; cancel any time before the trial ends and you won't be charged.
5You're editing
Open your live site, sign in, and edit right on the page. Click any text or image, change it, and hit Publish. Every change commits to your own GitHub repository and auto-deploys a moment later. Add editors by their Google email so they can make changes too, no GitHub account needed.
That's it, you're live on Kiln.
Your content lives in a GitHub repo you keep, as plain HTML you can take anywhere. Want us to do the setup for you instead? Kiln Managed at $14.99/mo. Want to run the whole stack yourself for free? Self-host. See all three on Pricing.
